Weekly Words

Hello Parents,

I hope you all had a great holiday and a happy new year.  The children have told me much about all the fantastic adventures they enjoyed during the break.  I am glad everyone is back rested and ready to learn!

This week we reviewed our letter sounds up to letter N.  It is wonderful how knowledgeable they all have become with remembering letter sounds.  I know this has much to do with you all practicing at home in addition to our class.  Thank you for that!  Next week we will begin back to the letter routine of letter O.  A couple students brought letter O objects this week;  I will keep these until the end of next week when we complete the letter fun!

We also have begun our Community unit.  This week we brushed the topic with learning about places in our community. This can be confusing to some, and often other countries are mentioned.  Please help your child this weekend by simply saying where you are in our community.  For example, if you go to Al Fair, "Look Sally!  Al Fair is a place in our community we visit a lot."  You can do this with anywhere... gas station, restaurant, mosque, hospital, beach, etc.  Hopefully, with seeing, being, and hearing about the places in the community, it will help connect them to our unit.
